Midland Building Window Film Project Update

Well, its a long process tearing off 30 year old window film but we're getting there! Since the building manager chose a 3M product they are assured long life out of this application, and when the time comes, easier removal of the old stuff. We've highlighted which windows have been completed for comparisons sake........ let us know what you think of the new look - info@solartexinc.com - . Did we mention the film will save enough energy in apprx. 2 years to pay for the application?!

Midland Building to Receive an Energy and Aesthetic Upgrade

During the next few months you may notice the landscape of downtown Columbus slowly changing. SolarTex, Inc. has been contracted to remove the existing window film (yes the purple stuff) and replace it with a newer, non-fading & energy efficient solar window film at the Midland Building located at 250 E. Broad St. in Columbus, Ohio. The existing film was applied almost 20 years ago and had seen better days both from an aesthetic and energy efficiency standpoint. SolarTex, Inc. provided test panels (if you look close at the pictures above you'll see them) and energy reports estimating how much money the building could save by upgrading the window film. We were amazed to report to the building engineer that removing the old film and replacing with new film would pay for itself in the form of energy saving in under two years! Keep your eyes open as you drive down Broad St. over the next few months and watch the transformation from start to finish! Please note: The pictures were taken before the makeover and shows the old window film still applied. As we make progress in the removal and re-application we'll post new pictures and updates.

TAKE A PICTURE!

I wanted to update the status on the seemingly never-ending, ever-changing & omnipresent evolution of our web-site - http://www.solartexinc.com - After spending months in the "war room" attempting to get the photo gallery updated but always having to put it off to satisfy the tyranny of the urgent I have finally done it. I felt the moment was so momentous that I wanted to take a picture so you could share in my joy! Gallery links below:

Seaweed, bubbles and decorative vinyl......

....... Grant Women's Hospital had a, shall we say, different request. In order to provide privacy to their interior corridors and special care nursery area, they chose a design that would create an "aquarium feel" to their renovated wing. After selecting the design and contractor, SolarTex, Inc. was brought in to replicate their vision and bring it to life. We worked tirelessly by modifying pattern files, producing and installing mock ups for approval and finally fabrication and installation of the approved products to meet their needs. While this was a tough project we felt we had the expertise and vision to make it happen.

Of particular concern in this project (and legitimately so) was the fact that the exposed edges of the graphics would be vulnerable to damage from folks seeing the pattern and for some reason deciding to "pick" at the edges. We resolved this potential liability by applying a clear "anti-graffiti" film on top of the cut graphics. While being clear, and adding extra protection by blocking damaging Ultra-Violet light, this solution provided the peace of mind that the application would stand the test of time. Best of all, in contrast to deciding to have the glass acid-etched, should the needs of the space change, the film can be removed and a new vision can be lived out by the hospital.

Decorative vinyl, bringing vision to reality and providing solutions to complex problems............ we love this stuff!

Decorative Vinyl.........why did we pick that description to highlight a portion of our products and services some have asked. We felt that all other descriptive names (privacy film, colored films, signage, vinyl graphics etc....) didn't get at the heart of what we do with our "Decorative Vinyl" line of products. Decorative Vinyl can be used for corporate branding, mission statements, motivational signage, privacy and much more. The old phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" really stands true in describing Decorative Vinyl to you. SolarTex, Inc. recently completed a project at URE (Union Rural Electric) that we feel describes one of the main use's for these films that a thousand words couldn't describe accurately. See the photos below and let us know if adding this element to your work environment would benefit you, your company and your employee's.
